Episode 37
Jolien is the co-founder of the London-based award winning culinary incubator Stories on Our Plate. With a background in social work and a masters degree in Anthropology of Food from the University of Londonâs School of Oriental and African Studies, Jolien has participated in many food education projects in her native Holland, England and now in Toronto, Canada.
In this conversation we discuss a range of topics that are the backbone of both of our professional projects such as food studies, anthropology, culinary identities and food activism. We also explore the relevance of creating purposeful social enterprises that champion diverse cultural identities that through food can create empowerment and facilitate cultural exchange.
